Everytime I look at a local or national paper there seems to be more and more weight loss adverts promising amazing results. There is usually a before and after picture to help to convince you that this or that system worked for this person so it will work for you. My approach is a little different. It is worth knowing more about yourself before you start on any health plan to ensure you are on the right track. A consultation with a Nutritional Therapist can get to the source of any health concerns or weight issues. |

I recently asked a client to write a food diary for three days to give me an idea of how much protein, sugar, fats, carbohydrates, liquid and salt he was getting on an average day. The client said he was amazed when he re read the diary in my waiting room before the consultation at how much meat he had in his diet. This situation is true for most people when the diet is examined closely. Meat seems to have become part of every meal as it is so conviently sliced or minced and is in almost every restauraunt and deli choice. |

Dairy is a source of calcium but it's not always the best. This is because such a high proportion of the Caucasian population are lactose intolerant and all of us have different degrees of lactose intolerance that stop us from absorbing the calcium in milk. Goat's milk contains more calcium than cow's milk and we tolerate it better because it's closer, chemically, to human milk. Tahini, broccoli, sesame seeds and almonds are also good sources. Symptoms of dairy intolerance range from nasal congestion to IBS and can lead to overactivation of the immune system. |
